Coaching Lesson 138: April Showers bring May Flowers

Life Cycles, Cause & Effect and Attitude

The proverb “March winds and April showers bring forth May flowers”, first recorded in 1886, or the shorter, trochaic version “April showers bring May flowers” (originally “Sweet April showers/Do spring May flowers”, part of a poem recorded in 1610. Wikipedia

Much of life and business is cyclical and as such we can sometimes distinguish certain patterns and use them to make some assumptions like: April showers ring May flowers. But what if it doesn’t rain in April? The take away here is that for the cycle to complete = first, then. We need to do what’s needed of us to help produce our desired results.

Some people walk in the rain. Others just get wet.  –  Roger Miller

love life

In many places, April can be long, wet and dreary. We may want May flowers, but are we happy with all the rain that must come first. If the efforts and activities needed from us to produce results are experienced as long, wet and dreary, we may wind up ‘suffering’ through the input phase or even hating our job. Attitude is everything.

Little round planet
In a big universe
Sometimes it looks blessed
Sometimes it looks cursed
Depends on what you look at obviously
But even more it depends on the way that you see

Bruce Cockburn, Child of the Wind
