What’s Your 5-Year Plan?

Success Planning from Petoskey, MI to Charolette, NC

planning goals choicesFor entrepreneurs, business leaders and professionals, goals and planning are staples of life. Most success stories involve goals and planning. Few people fall into success without risk assessment, goal setting and some kind of plan, but consensus on the need for a five-year plan is hard to come by. Some believe in it, others do not. Some like structure, some like to be loose and flexible.

I’ve been in navigation systems, robotics, restaurants, communications systems, touch screens, and now I’m back in games. I like to say I have five-year A.D.D.  –  Nolan Bushnell, Founder – Atari & Chuck E. Cheese Pizza

I work with clients from Petoskey, Mi to Charolette, NC to Arkansas, Colorado and both coasts helping them to assess themselves, their businesses and their goals and dreams. We think BIG, get out of the box and let our imaginations run wild. Then we take a look from the left-brain’s perspective and set goals that are both inspiring and practical. Goals lead to planning and planning leads to action and results, which leads to more goal setting.

In thinking about the notion or need of a 5-year plan, what needs to be addressed? Basically only two things: What needs to change and what needs to remain the same. In business and in life these are the primary questions around change. The why of it is usually more complex, and generally speaking, it keeps you stuck in the problem.

The first question is: What’s most important?

Whether you have short term goals, a five-year plan or long-term goals, questions are fundamental to all planning and goal setting. A good coach helps you discover your truth, including your set points, and motivates you to take actions necessary to create the results. It’s inspiring, like a little kid with the whys, without driving you crazy like a three-year-old discovering the world!

“If a little kid ever asks you just why the sky is blue, you look him or her right in the eye and say, “It’s because of quantum effects involving Rayleigh scattering combined with a lack of violet photon receptors in our retinae.” ― Philip Plait, Bad Astronomy: Misconceptions and Misuses Revealed, from Astrology to the Moon Landing “Hoax”
